Transform the look of your smile

Dental veneers are custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They're a versatile cosmetic option for addressing a range of concerns — from stubborn discolouration and chipping to uneven spacing and irregular tooth shape.

At Smile Spot Mawson Lakes, we offer both porcelain and composite veneers. During your consultation, we'll discuss which option is best suited to your goals, your teeth, and your budget.

Porcelain vs composite veneers

Porcelain veneers

Made in a dental laboratory from thin ceramic, porcelain veneers closely mimic the appearance of natural tooth enamel. They're highly resistant to staining and can produce very natural-looking results.

  • Exceptionally natural appearance
  • Highly resistant to staining
  • Can last many years with proper care
  • Requires two or more appointments

Composite veneers

Applied directly to your teeth using tooth-coloured composite resin, composite veneers are shaped and polished by your dentist in a single visit. They're a more affordable option and can be repaired easily if damaged.

  • More affordable than porcelain
  • Completed in one appointment
  • Easily repaired if chipped
  • May require polishing or replacing over time

What veneers can address

  • Stained or discoloured teeth that don't respond to whitening
  • Chipped or worn teeth
  • Minor misalignment or gaps between teeth
  • Irregular tooth shape or size
  • Slightly overlapping teeth

The veneer process

Consultation

We discuss your goals, assess your teeth, and determine whether veneers are the right option for you. We'll explain what to expect and answer any questions.

Preparation (porcelain)

A small amount of enamel is removed from the tooth surface to create space for the veneer. Impressions are taken and sent to the dental laboratory. A temporary veneer may be placed while yours is being made.

Bonding

Your veneer is carefully bonded to the tooth surface using dental cement. We check your bite and make any fine adjustments needed before you leave.

Are veneers right for you?

Veneers work best when your underlying teeth and gums are healthy. If there are signs of decay, gum disease, or significant structural damage, these should be addressed before cosmetic treatment begins.

People who grind their teeth (bruxism) may not be ideal candidates for veneers, as this can cause them to chip or break. Your dentist will discuss this with you during your consultation. Individual results may vary.
