Smile Spot Mawson Lakes is a preferred provider for NIB, CBHS, HCF, and smile.com.au — meaning members of these funds receive reduced gaps or no-gap dental on covered treatments. We also accept all other major health funds via HICAPS, so you can claim on the spot regardless of your provider.
Visiting a preferred provider means the gap between what your fund pays and what you owe is smaller — often significantly smaller — than at a non-preferred practice. At Smile Spot Mawson Lakes, we have negotiated fee agreements with four major health fund networks, so families across Mawson Lakes, Salisbury, Parafield Gardens, and the northern suburbs can get more value from their dental cover.
The highest tier in Bupa's provider network. Bupa members attending Smile Spot receive the lowest available gaps on covered treatments, with many preventive services at no gap. See our dedicated Bupa page →
NIB members with extras cover benefit from agreed fees that reduce or eliminate the gap on dental services. NIB is one of Australia's largest health insurers with over 1.5 million members nationally.
HCF members receive reduced gaps under HCF's More for Teeth program. HCF covers over 1.8 million Australians and is the largest not-for-profit health fund in the country.
CBHS (Commonwealth Bank Health Society) members attending a preferred provider like Smile Spot benefit from negotiated fees that keep out-of-pocket costs low. CBHS is well-represented in the Mawson Lakes and northern suburbs area.
smile.com.au offers a dental membership that provides reduced fees at participating practices. Unlike traditional health insurance, there is no claim to make — you simply pay the discounted smile.com.au fee at the time of your visit. Memberships start from around $80 per year for individuals.
Even if your fund is not listed as a preferred provider, we accept all major Australian health funds via HICAPS. This includes Medibank, Australian Unity, Teachers Health, Defence Health, GMHBA, Peoplecare, Police Health, Westfund, and many others. You will still receive a rebate from your fund — the gap may simply be slightly higher than for preferred provider members.
We process claims on the spot at the front desk. No paperwork, no delays, no mailing receipts. Swipe your card, see your rebate, pay the gap. Done.
A preferred provider has a negotiated fee agreement with a health fund. This means members of that fund pay a reduced gap — or no gap at all — for covered dental treatments when they visit a preferred provider. At Smile Spot, we are preferred providers for NIB, CBHS, HCF, and smile.com.au. We are also a Bupa Members First Platinum provider, which is covered on a separate page.
We accept all Australian health funds via our HICAPS terminal. For NIB, CBHS, HCF, and smile.com.au members, we are a preferred provider — meaning you receive the best possible rebate and lowest gap. For Bupa members, we are a Members First Platinum provider. For all other funds — Medibank, Australian Unity, Teachers Health, Defence Health, GMHBA, and others — we process your claim on the spot and you pay only the gap.
Just bring your health fund membership card. We swipe it through HICAPS at the end of your appointment, the rebate is applied instantly, and you only pay any remaining gap. No forms, no waiting for reimbursement, no pre-approval needed for most general dental treatments.
smile.com.au is a dental benefits provider that offers members discounted dental fees at participating practices. As a smile.com.au provider, Smile Spot offers reduced fees for smile.com.au members on a range of dental treatments. It works differently from traditional health insurance — rather than claiming a rebate, you simply pay the reduced smile.com.au fee directly.
It depends on your fund, your level of extras cover, and the treatment you need. For preventive services like check-ups, cleans, and X-rays, preferred provider members often have no gap or a very small gap. For major dental work, there may be a larger gap depending on your cover. We always check your fund and confirm the expected gap before starting treatment — no surprises.
Yes, children listed on your health fund policy can claim dental services through your extras cover. If your child is also eligible for the CDBS (Child Dental Benefits Schedule), we bulk bill that through Medicare first. Any treatments outside CDBS can then be claimed through your private fund.
